East, and Down
Summer confuses first-time Quinte anglers. The spring spots go quiet, and they wonder where the walleye went. The answer: east, and down.
As the upper bay warms, many walleye slide toward the deeper, cooler reaches near Lake Ontario. Adolphus Reach and the waters near the Upper Gap hold summer schools in 30-to-50-foot water. Trolling deep with crankbaits, snap weights, or lead core line reaches them.

Use the Two-Line Rule
The two-line rule makes summer trolling efficient east of the Glenora ferry line — two rods per angler doubles your spread. Run different depths and colours until the fish tell you what they want.
The Upper Bay Turns Warmwater
Meanwhile, the warm upper bay becomes bass and pike water. Largemouth bury into the thickest weed shade. Smallmouth feed early and late on rocky structure. Pike hold on the deep weed edges.

Fish the Edges of the Day
Summer mornings are gold. Calm water, low light, and active fish make the first three hours the best three hours. By afternoon, take the family swimming at Sandbanks — the fish will bite again at sunset. Then circle mid-October on the calendar for the main event.
